Notes on What's Happenin' - Sept./Oct. 2006

by Dulcie Guinty

Released on Friday, September 1st, 2006

Wow I can’t believe it’s Sept. already! But then on the other hand it seemed as if it would never get here!

There is certainly lots of things to look forward in the months ahead. Sept. is full of great music all month long. Acoustic Arts in the Park concerts return Aug 26, Sept 2 and 9. Come on down for a relaxing afternoon in shady Central Riverside Park. You are sure to hear some familiar folks and some wonderful new folks as well! Be sure to let the folks with the Wichita Parks Dept. know how much you enjoy those concerts too! Special Thanks to Larry Foos with the Wichita Parks Dept and Brian Bailey —AcousticAnthology.com, for their much appreciated contributions to making these concerts a reality!

Then of course it’s time to go home to Winfield. Be sure to stop by our booth under the grandstand and say hello- you never know who you’ll find there! It’s also a great to time renew your membership or buy a gift membership for a friend ( the holidays are just around the corner!).

Sept. 30th is the annual Artichoke Catfish Fry/KAAA open Mic and Auction. Hope to see you all there! Also, if you or some one you know would like to make a donation of goods and/or services to our fundraising auction we would gladly welcome all!

The last couple of issues have featured a letter from High Plains Public Radio in Garden City for Kansas musicians to come out there and record a living room type concert for later airing. In July, 5 Man Trio went to Garden City to do just that! I’ll certainly be looking forward to its being aired. Has anyone else taken them up on the offer? If so, we would like to hear all about it!

Aug. 20 brought a lot of folks to the Cotillion to see Split Lip Rayfield. They put on a great and memorable show. Word has it that you can here them again on Stage5 Sat. at midnight. I’m sure we all wish Kirk Rundstrom and his family the best as well as all the boys in the band.

Also on Sunday Sept. 10 we’ll be hosting the 3rd annual Chick Pick Tea 1-3p.m. Party in our camp at the east end of the Pecan Grove—all women and girls are encouraged to come.

Oh yeah--its election time and your chance to speak out- be sure to send back your ballot! Many special thanks to the following board members who are retiring.
Debbie Seeley, Russell Brace, Sherry Brace, John Leth-Nissen, Ann Keefer, and Rik Stevenson, their contributions to this organization have been greatly appreciated.

Remember we want to hear from you so-o-o send us your Notes on What’s Happenin’.

Peace,
Dulcie
