Notes on What's Happening - May/June 2006

Released on Monday, July 10th, 2006

Wow, spring has sprung and there is great music happening everywhere! The Final Friday Gallery Crawl and unofficial kick off of legalized busking in March was a big success with many folks and families out to enjoy the evening and see and hear some of the great artists that we have here in metropolitan doodah! We hope to see more of you acoustically inclined folks out there taking advantage of the new ordinance recently passed by the city allowing street performances--- remember we need performers and appreciators!!!!
Our friend Nikki Moddlemog had her C.D. release party at the Artichoke a few weeks ago. She played to a full house and was joined by several folks who had made contributions to the project. You must check out her C.D. “Pathological Optimist”,
a great philosophy for a bright future! Congratulations Nikki!
I recently had the opportunity to meet some of the folks at KTQW TV49 --- this public access channel is interested in promoting local artists, musicians, and songwriters. Leslie Kinder is hosting a show that features local musicians and music happenings. She is interested in hearing from local songwriters who would like to be on her show. What an excellent opportunity to show the folks out there how many truly talented people we have right here in our little neck of the woods.
Call Leslie at 8715165.
Once again this year we will be presenting “Acoustic Arts on the Court” at the Wichita River Festival Saturday, May 13th—hope to see you all there!
We have been in contact with the City Parks and Rec. Dept. and are pleased to announce that we will be working with those fine folks and member Brian Bailey (acousticanthology.com) to bring a free concert series to the community in Riverside Park. Look for upcoming announcements for “Acoustic Arts in the Park” coming to you in June.
We are also planning our annual potluck picnic/general meeting/jam—so mark your calendars for June 10th. More news when we have plans finalized.
Barney Byard and Linda Cunningham recently hosted a house concert with Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart. What a great way to spend the evening—talk about up close and personal! Hope to see more of these type concerts!
Be sure to check out the calendar of events- you don’t want to miss out any of the great musical events coming up. Remember we want to be here for you so-o-o send us your Notes on What’s Happening.

Peace
Dulcie
