Notes on What's Happening - Nov/Dec 2005

by Dulcie Guinty

Released on Thursday, December 1st, 2005

Wow, I can hardly believe fall is almost gone and winter will soon be on our doorstep.

I’m still hearing from friends that they aren’t finished putting away festival camping stuff yet. Which could be a good thing as the Deep Fork Festival in Chandler OK is Nov.4-6. The festival is host to the Oklahoma state Autoharp Championships. To find out more visit www.dffest.com.

My Walnut Valley festival was awesome this year. The Chick pick was big fun- with over 50 ladies in attendance! We had pickers, singers, songwriters, laughter and tears
A great girl time!

Thank you very much all of you who donated some of your festival time to sit at our booth under the grandstands. A challenge was issued by last years queen of the catfish fry to see who could get the most memberships signed up during their shift. Congratulations to Amy Crouch "Queen of the Catfish Fry" 2005!

Speaking of the Fish Fry—thank you Pat and Juanita for the great time! Many thanks also to those of you who donated auction items and those who joined in on the auction fun! The food was great, the evening was grand and the music was fantastic!

Uche and Guinn had a great backyard party at the “Choke. Uche was rockin’ and Guinn was debuting his new solo C.D. “the Ride” which features many of my favorite Guinn songs.

Looking forward – there are so many great music shows coming up. Those of you Waybacks fans out there who didn’t get tickets to the Old Settlers sold out show can catch them and serve a good cause. They will be playing a benefit concert for the Planeview community Library located in Colvin Elementary school. Opening for the Swaybacks will be none other than Pop and the Boys. The concert is at the Louise C. Murdock Theater on Nov. 16th 7 pm. Tickets are $15—info at www.festivalgypsy.com.

Stephen Bennett will be giving a holiday concert Dec. 10th at Dawson united Methodist Church. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Bryan Masters will be helping us host the 2nd annual Guitars for kids House Party. Dec. 9 at the Artichoke. We’ll be featuring some of the finest local songwriters to pick on a string, have a little fun, food, and give to great cause- music for kids! The S/S Circle who meets monthly at the Artichoke has recorded another live c.d. for this project—so come on out and support music education!

The holidays are near and C.D.'s make a great holiday gift so be sure to check out our discography page and treat someone you love to some great tunes!

You won’t want to miss out on any of the music happening locally so check out the calendar of events.

I hope your holidays are merry and filled with many blessings!

Remember we can want to hear from you so send us your “Notes on What’s Happening”.

Peace
Dulcie
